SmartWood Certified ForestryHorner Flooring supports SmartWood, an effort designed to maximize the positive impacts of commercial forestry on local communities and to reduce the long-term environmental impact. SmartWood is a program of the Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit conservation organization. United States Sports Surfacing Laboratory (USSL)Throughout the years, Horner Flooring has tested wood flooring systems with the United States Sports Surfacing Laboratory, Inc. The USSL is an independent testing company dedicated to the exclusive testing of surfaces designed for sports usage. Covering the globe with affiliated laboratories in Switzerland and Australia, the USSL actively participates in the worldwide development of testing standards and procedures through the ISSS and ASTM. DIN CertifiedDIN refers to set of standards developed by the Otto-Graf Institute, and affiliate of Stuttgart University, in Stuttgart, Germany. European DIN standards and testing can be compared to the U.S. ASTM and UL standards. Products are DIN tested is conducted by only two organizations: The Otto-Graph Institut in Germany or the USSL in the United States. DIN tested maple sports floors are evaluated for: force reduction or shock absorption, standard deformation or resilience, deformation control, ball rebound, behavior under rolling load, and sliding behavior. Horner Flooring offers a variety of floors which have been DIN tested and certified. Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA)Horner Flooring is a charter member of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association. Since 1897, the MFMA has established itself as the authoritative source of technical and general information on maple sports flooring. Horner subscribes to the high standards for which the association stands. Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA)The Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA), founded in 1932 in Geneva, Switzerland, is the world governing body of basketball and sanctions. Formed by the union of 212 affiliated national federations, FIBA stages international basketball competitions and is recognized as the sole competent authority in basketball by the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.). The FIBA Study Centre has granted Horner a Certificate of Compliance relating to all Horner products. United States Department of CommerceThe United States Department of Commerce awarded Horner Flooring Company its Export Achievement Award for the success that Horner has achieved in selling its hardwood sports flooring products in a global marketplace. This award was presented December 2, 2003 by U.S. Representative Bart Stupak and members of the U.S. Department of Commerce at an international trade forum held at the Finnish American Heritage Center on the campus of Finlandia University in Hancock, MI. |
